Slice Cordless Design Cutter... help?

I got the cutter on memorial day and when I pulled it out of the box and plugged it in, I was able to use it fine. It worked perfectly. Yesterday, I got it out to use it again. I turned it on and it came on for a moment but turned off again. So I plugged it in, figuring the battery just needed charged, that didn't surprise me, no big deal. But then it wouldn't turn back on. I let it sit plugged in for, I don't know, 12 hours probably, but during the course of that time I continually checked the machine to see if it would turn on and it never would. What's going on? Should I exchange it? Will they let me exchange it since I've thrown out the box, and used some of the adhesive already?
